Growth #2 || INSPIRATION MONDAY

Hellooooo WP/Internet fam! What’s good?

So right now, it’s a few minutes to midnight and I’m sleepy as hell, but I know it just won’t be right if I made yet another excuse for not posting. And so, I’m off my lazy ass and back to work. HALLELUYAH!

So where were we

Yh. About two weeks ago I shared a post titled Growth, centred on Luke 2:52

Jesus grew in wisdom, and in stature, and in favour with God and all the people

Today (or tonight), ama go into part two which focuses on the FAVOUR(ISH) aspect of Growth.

FAVOR:

Excessive kindness/preferential treatment. Synonyms: approval, esteem, goodwill, kindness.

So, Issa Bible story!

This post is centred on ESTHER.

Esther was a young Jewish orphan who lived with her cousin, Mordecai, in the then kingdom of Persia. At that time there was this sort of beauty pageant going on, where all the beautiful Persian women were brought to the palace. The winner of this ‘contest’ was to be crowned queen. Pretty simple right? Just catwalk into the palace, and hope to God the King likes you. Except, it was almost impossible for her to be selected out of the tens of thousands of people in the contest. And this wasn’t some Bachelorette kinda ish. 12 months of beauty treatments- six months just for oils and the other six for perfumes and cosmetics. Imagine what TWELVE WHOLE MONTHS OF THAT WOULD DO TO YOU! Forget them bath and body works ish, this was the real deal! I mean, like dem women was already beautiful before, but now, you give ‘em 12 months of heaven?! Would’ve been  some serious melanin-popping! Amen to that!

So you get my point. The competition was tough, fierce even. But the Bible says, Esther found favour in the sight of all who saw her. She found favour in the sight of the one of the Kings eunuchs, Hegai, who was in charge of making sure the women were in tip top shape for the big reveal day. Because Esther found favour in his sight, he gave her more beauty treatments than the other girls, gave her seven personal servants and moved her to the best place in the mansion. You know dem eunuchs, they know stuff. I have a pretty good reason to believe that this guy was also giving her tips on how to win the competition. Probably telling her what clothes the king prefers on women, jewels, scents, weaves, etc. And sure enough, that advice was probably one of the best she’d ever received in her life, because she got that crown! Yaaaaas! And the rest is history.

The Bible says that the King loved Esther more than all the other women, and she obtained grace and favour more than the others. Now tell me, how can you love someone instantaneously. It mean she woulda be been da bomb! She must have blown his mind when he saw her. And I’m sure it wasn’t because she was prettier, or more curvaceous. But she just had that anointing. That grace. That favour.

Most times in life, we go through stuff and we come out victorious not because we are the best, or the brightest, or the prettiest, or the most ‘lovable’ but because of God’s favour upon our lives.

Favour is nothing but preference. And God’s favour is exceeding preference. He causes kings and princes to seek after the ordinary people. Favor is what makes the difference most times. It makes you special. It causes you to be preferred amongst your peers, mates, colleagues. It makes you distinguished.

Now tell me. What are the odds of a poor Jewish girl, who was definitely not qualified to compete in the beauty pageant because of her nationality, to come out on top and become queen in a foreign land. Zero to none. But yet, it happened. Not because she had connections. But because God connected her to the right people.

When you have the favor of God, he will make the right people to find you, and like you for no just reason. Have you ever heard someone say ‘I dunno why, but I just like that guy’. Let me tell you why. It’s because he has favour upon his life. Favor puts you at the right place, at the right time, with the right people, for the right reason, in the right season! (boom, I’m spitting some rhymes here y’all!)

Ha!

So, Jess, how do I get this favor you’ve been blabbing about for the past 5 minutes. Simple. The most basic answer to “how can I get God’s favor” is “believe in the Lord Jesus.”

God did us the greatest favor by sending his son Jesus to die for us. Jesus died for you and me so that we can be saved, redeemed and reconciled back to God and enjoy his everlasting love, grace and favor.

All you need to do is say this simple prayer:

LORD JESUS, I KNOW THAT I AM A SINNER. I CONFESS MY SINS. FORGIVE ME LORD. I AM SORRY. I BELIEVE THAT YOU LOVE ME AND DIED FOR ME. TODAY I ASK YOU TO COME INTO MY HEART AND MY LIFE. BE MY LORD AND SAVIOR. IN JESUS’ NAME. AMEN

If you just said that prayer, congratulations, you are now qualified for the exceeding favor of God! I’m so happy for you and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for you life! 😊

Until. Next time, keep shining and winning 💯

Xo

Jess
